For developing StageTrack – ultra-wideband tracking on stages

In theatres, spotlights are still frequently directed at people on stage by hand. Tim Justus Löffler developed StageTrack, an affordable system for precise automated tracking. Several fixed transmitters use ultra-wideband radio to measure the distance to a mobile device worn by the person. The system calculates the position with an accuracy of up to ten centimetres and controls the spotlights automatically. Modern network protocols keep the system stable even when obstacles are present.
